CID dramatics with explosions and cops in distress!

Kwok Kar Peng, reporting ‘live’ and ‘deaf’struck from the crime scene
Tay Ping Hui, Constance Song, Qi Yuwu and Jeanette Aw played cops and robbers one afternoon in January, but with real guns, cartridges and explosions! All, but Yuwu, walked away with gun wounds…
My colleague and I had been called down to a seemingly laidback area in January on news that stars Tay Ping Hui, Constance Song, Jeanette Aw and Qi Yuwu would be involved in some illegal activities with firearms. We packed our cameras and voice recorders and rushed down to the scene pronto.
Location: a quiet, idyllic neighbourhood near Newton Food Centre
The sky blackened and rain drizzled down, just like in the movies when some big crime bust was about to take place. A maid sat distractedly on the void deck steps waiting for her young charge to come home from the school bus. After planting ourselves there for half an hour, I began to think we have been bamboozled.
Then, a van drove up and discharged a huge gang of people who proceeded up to a second-storey apartment. We crept silently behind them…

Crime scene revelations: Constance Song, incensed that former lover Allan Wu is smooching ‘good pal’ Tay Ping Hui, seduces the latter to an apartment, drugs him unconscious and proceeds to do unspeakable evils to him…
Ping Hui is tied to a chair. Constance, wearing just a skimpy pair of black shorts and a loose white shirt, is hovering over him, a shiny black gun clasped tight in her hand.
BANG! A deafening (and I am certainly not exercising any of my literal exaggerations here) shot rings out and Ping Hui grimaces in pain; the lady has turned lethal! But wait, there’s a noise at the door… someone has come to save the man in distress.
A second shot reverberates immediately around us and Constance falls back in pain. Yuwu, ever the silent and dashing hero, ambers out with the smoking gun; a quivering Jeanette flies out and wraps her arms over her darling Ping Hui.
But Constance shows she’s not just any moaning meanie with a gun! Before anyone could respond, she shoots Jeanette in the back! The pitiful girl exchanges a forlorn look with her lover before collapsing ever so dramatically onto the ground.
The bloody saga finally ends when Yuwu pins Constance to the ground and handcuffs her…
“Hands on the wall everyone, this is a raid!” We shrieked and pounced on the four stars. One by one, we interrogated them on the whos, whats, whys and hows on their filming for the new cop drama tentatively titled The CID Drama (Chinese title: Xing Jing Er Ren Zu).
Femme fatale Jeanette Aw kanna bluffed big-time!

It was the first time Jeanette has an igniter on her. She trotted up to Constance and asked earnestly: “Did it hurt a lot?”
Charitably, Constance replied, “No lah, hurts a little bit only. You don’t have to worry; when you hear the loud ‘bang’, you’ll know how to react.”
Indeed, she was right! Jeanette acted perfectly when the explosion went off, her face expressing just dastardly painful it was.
Wait… something’s not right. The director has yelled cut and Jeanette was still squirming in agony, her eyes even tearing up! Has reel injury become real!?! The crew dashed up to the delicate young actress and fawned over her. Finally, she flashed a morose smile at Ping Hui. Mumbling “It’s very painful!” continuously, she was battle-scared but otherwise ok.
It was a good half hour later when we finally ‘interrogated’ Jeanette.
“I still feel the sting,” she groaned sweetly. We checked her back and indeed, a red bruise presided. “The sensation was a big shock compared to what everyone one had told me!” She continued.
Still, she confessed she would still be game for a second take had the first one been unsatisfactory.
Mr Jimmy Low explained to us, “The igniter was taped to her shirt. If Jeanette remained still, it wouldn’t have hurt this much. But she moved and the air created an impact during the ignition and hit her skin. It was like a slap on the skin lah.”

This is also the first time that Jeanette is playing a baddie. For her first attempt, she even kills two people, not bad for a freshie huh!
We asked, have you ever thought of killing someone in your angriest moments? Who would it be?
“HUH?!” She gazed wide-eyed at us, letting loose a shocked giggle. “I’ve never thought of that before! I don’t think there’s a murderess in me.”
How about cursing? Ever wanted to jinx someone?
“No!” She replied softly but promptly, sounding even more in awe. “That’s a bit evil lor! No lah, don’t have. The most I’ll do is bitch about someone but not so hei xin (black-hearted) like that!”
Aww, what a pure-hearted sweetheart!

The punishment for Qi Yuwu, Jeanette Aw and Tay Ping Hui for playing with guns: 10 hours of aural agony with Jocie Guo Meimei’s cockroach song. (Actually, that’s just them covering their ears in anticipation of the LOUD gun shot ‘bang’.)
