“The Little Nyonya” stars charm international photographers

CANNES, France: It may be about 13 degrees Celsius in the southeastern French coastal city of Cannes, but that did not stop the stars of local hit series, “The Little Nyonya”, from turning up in costumes for photographers at the international TV content trade show, MIPTV.

The Mandarin drama series has been purchased by broadcasters and distributors in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam and the United States.

In fact, fans who cannot get enough of the show will be glad to know that MediaCorp will be staging a Peranakan-themed musical titled “The Peranakan Ball” on May 16.

Directed by Goh Boon Teck, renowned theatre director, playwright and production designer, this colourful and heartwarming Mothers’ Day musical recreates the emotional highlights of the drama serial with a plot set in a Tok Panjang, where a downtrodden Nyonya servant girl in a wealthy Peranakan household finds the Baba of her dreams.

Some of the stars from “The Little Nyonya” will sing and dance on stage along with veteran MediaCorp artistes.

Jeanette Aw and Dai Yang Tian will headline this musical with other artistes such as Xiang Yun, Ann Kok, Rayson Tan, Ben Yeo and Brandon Wong, as well as Project Superstar’s Chen Di Ya and Carrie Yeo.

《小娘惹》要进军欧洲

　　《小娘惹》有望打进欧洲市场，欧萱、戚玉武本周将以娘惹装扮赴法国宣传！

　　随着去年成功引起追看风潮的本地电视剧《小娘惹》在本地大受欢迎，新传媒至今已成功将该剧的播映版权售至香港、柬埔寨、马来西亚等各地，而接下来，新传媒将带着《小娘惹》出席一年一度于法国康城举办的MIPTV（法国康城电视节）电视展；届时，剧中两位主角欧萱及戚玉武，将代表全体演员出席交流会及一些列宣传活动，希望能借此机会将《小娘惹》“销”到欧洲市场！

　　新传媒华文综艺节目及节目发行高级副总裁梁露明受询时表示，除了上海电影节、北京电视节外,一年一度的MIPTV也给予了新传媒将本地制作及节目（包括本地电视剧和纪录片等）推广到海外的平台。

　　由于《小娘惹》口碑佳、海外版权询问度高，新传媒打铁趁热，将带《小娘惹》赴本届康城电视展，“为了配合当地的宣传活动，我们已为《小娘惹》配音，届时将现场播出部分片段。此外，欧萱和戚玉武将换上剧中的娘惹服装，出席宣传活动。希望能借此机会让外地国家能更了解娘惹文化，也希望能凭《小娘惹》打进欧洲市场。”

　　梁露明也指，若《小娘惹》成功在这次展览中“销”出，想必是新传媒近年来首部成功打进欧洲市场的华语电视剧。

　　今年的MIPTV主展于3月30日至本月3日举行，去年参展的公司来自近百个国家，其中，新加坡媒体发展管理局携带了44部片子参展行销。

《红星》爆砸金内幕　小生万元买奖 ?

年年入围20大年年拿奖的欧萱，上届《红星》就首次“杠龟”，她也坦承当时确实有点失落。

　　《红星大奖》10大，艺人5位数砸钱买奖！

　　《红星大奖》“10最受欢迎男女艺人”入围名单上星期五揭晓，进入20大的男女艺人，除了郑各评是“初哥”之外，并无太大惊喜。不过，娱乐圈却爆出原来一些艺人曾经为了提高知名度，会趁“红星大奖”期间自掏腰包砸重金买奖。

　　欧萱吁粉丝 量力而为
　　欧萱在得知每通10大投选电话收费为$0.80++之后，也大吐舌头喊贵！年年入围20大年年拿奖的欧萱，上届《红星》就首次“杠龟”，她也坦承当时确实有点失落。“上次是唯一一次没有拿奖（10大）……不过奖项这种东西有起有落啦。”

　　欧萱说，每通电话投选$0.80，确实有点太贵了，尤其对学生粉丝更是负担。“有点担心……因为真的有点贵，不希望他们（学生粉丝）花太多钱投票，量力而为就好了。”

　　会不会自己砸个三五千元买奖？

　　她笑说：“哈哈哈！不会啦！我不如拿这笔前去旅行算了！”

最近比较忙
但忙的当儿

“消失”一年王禄江仍挤进20大

　　王禄江在电视荧光幕前“消失”一年，却不影响人气，今年再度挤进20大！

　　王禄江曾是“10大”常客，过去曾5度入围，但是过去一年为了旅游节目《优游天下》去了中国、印度、不丹等的39个地方拍外景，几乎从电视上消失，加上之前一直有传言他得罪电视台高层，因此一般猜测他今年很可能与10大无缘。不过据知王禄江已入围20大，将和其他艺人争一杯羹。

　　七公主‘平安’晋升
　　新传媒七公主成功入围20大，今年将是欧萱、陈靓瑄、白薇秀、瑞恩、刘芷绚、谢宛谕和姚懿珊之争。自《小娘惹》播出后，欧萱被誉为“明日阿姐”，人气大升之外，在不景气的当儿接下不少广告，财源滚滚来；之前甚至有说“红星”延后，正是为了欧萱，所以她能在20大巩固一席之位，似乎是意料之内。

　　据悉，欧萱昨才得悉入围的好消息，工作人员表示，她当下得知消息后“没很兴奋的反应”，记者尝试联络欧萱，至截稿前，她正录综艺节目，不便接听电话。

　　目前正在赶拍《双子星》的陈靓瑄从记者口中得知入围20大的消息后，开心的说：“蛮怀念的，因为去年没主办《红星》，这证明大家并没有忘记陈靓瑄！”之前9点有《黄金路》、7点有《心花朵朵》又主持《校园SuperStar》，高曝光率让公主顺利入围。

Sisters Unite

Hot on the heels of its opening last November, Nike Singapore unveiled its latest Spring 2009 Women’s Training collection on Feb 19 at Wisma Atria, Atrium

The event labelled “Be Transformed” showcased the brand’s latest range of female sporting footwear and apparel through a series of fashion shows and workout demonstrations.

Dubbed the Nike Sister Series, the current collection consists of three models – Sister One (for cross training), Bold Sister (a high-cut variant for extensive ankle support) and Strong Sister (for lightweight, supportive training).

Each model incorporates advance sporting technology that allows users to move about freely while participating in different physical activities.

Fronting the campaign was Mediacorp actress Jeanette Aw and Kuala Lumpur-based fitness instructor Leonara Halim.

The former demonstrated an energetic five-minute Body Jam workout while Leonara showcased off her quick chops with a heart-thumping Body Combat workout.

While both Leonara and Jeanette Aw were both left sweating profusely after their respective workouts, they hardly looked like washed up gym rats about to pass out thanks to their fashionable, well cut apparel.

“What I like best about the new collection is its bright and vibrant colours. The shoes are especially great because they provide all-in-one functionality and different dimensions to allow me to explore different activities,” said Jeanette Aw at a press interview.

All things said and done, the event was all about allowing women to take charge of their lives and transform themselves.

Jeanette Aw, who sought her own transformation through dance and an active lifestyle, offers this advice to young women seeking to make a change in their lives, “Just take the first step, that is what’s most important.”

finished this book.
i think it’s pretty touching. though i wish life wasn’t made up of so much regrets. it’s all about living in the moment and cherishing those around you. those who matter to you, those whom you love dearly. but at the same time, even though we know the logic behind this, how many of us actually still don’t do it?

carpe diem – seize the day.
i know of people who live their life based on this maxim. but many don’t really understand the true meaning of it. do i? do you? do we?

books by the same author, books i read some time back. “tuesdays with Morrie” is famous enough without me saying much. in fact, as i remember, it was the book to read, and also the book to be given to friends. and so saying, i remember receiving 3 “tuesdays with Morrie” back then.

the second book – the five people you meet in Heaven..
well.. it just.. didn’t feel as good as the previous one. (personal opinion)
